The Pupil Premium Grant is additional funding which has been allocated to schools since April 2011. The Government believes that this is the best way to address the current inequalities by ensuring that funding to tackle disadvantage, reaches the children who need it most i.e. those from low income families, armed forces families and children who have been looked after continuously for more than six months.
Our aim is to narrow the gap in attainment and educational opportunity between children attracting pupil premium funding and those children from more privileged backgrounds. We want to enable children to reach their full potential both academically and socially.
